An epic Journey into the world of Bagpipes.


Through the piping traditions of Scotland and Ireland, to a medieval castle in France for an amazing festival of European Bagpipes.The adventure continues in the new world, with the last of the Cape Breton community dance pipers, Celtic rock music and an alternative Pipers' Convention in the USA.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Scotland - The Cowel Highland Games, and 150 pipe bands.

  • Oban and the beautiful Isle of Skye for Ceol Mor, the ancient classical music of the Pipes with Dr. Angus MacDonald.

  • France - St.Chartier gathering of Bagpipers and Hurdy-Gurdies players, early European bagpipes, history and unusual music.

  • Ireland - Finbar Furey's humorous intro to the Uilleann Pipes and a beautiful slow air. A drive through the scenic County Clare to a Donegal pub session.

  • The New World - Celtic Rock with Ian MacKinnon (Rawlins Cross). World Champion Simon Fraser Pipe Band, The College of Piping, PEI and the Halifax Police Pipe Band, pipe maker John Walsh and piper Scott Williams.

  • Cape Breton - The last of the community pipers, Alex Currie, with Barry Shears. War pipes at the siege of the Fortress of Louisbourg, Cape Breton. Northumbrian Pipers' Convention, Vermont - Northumbrian and Irish pipers.
